Baba Balak Nath is a Hindu deity worshipped in the northern Indian states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, J&K etc. The shrine is known as "Deotsidh" and is amongst the most popular shrines of Hamirpur. Deotsidh is a cave temple that is dedicated to Baba Balaknath. It is situated at a distance of 45 km from "Hamirpur" near the border of Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts of Himachal Pradesh, India. The Baba Balak Nath Temple is situated at the village of "Chakmoh" in the district of Hamirpur on the hilltop, in a natural cave carved in the hills, considered to be the abode of Baba. An Idol of Baba is placed in the cave. The Management and administration of Shri Baba Balak Nath Temple Deothsidh is looked after by the Government of H.P. The overall management of the Temple and Local Premises including the Library, Langar and Sarai is being looked after by Shri Baba Balak Nath Temple Trust Deothsidh and is headed by the Temple Trust Commissioner-cum-Deputy Commissioner Hamirpur, HP. The holy shrine is open throughout the year but Sunday is especially treated as the auspicious day of Baba Balak Nath and a large number of Hindu devotee’s visit the temple on Sunday’s and offer sweetened Indian flour breads known as Rota. On the occasions of Holi and Navratri, the temple is thronged by a sizable number of devotees, thus making the temple one of the biggest revenue sources in Himachal Pradesh. This route is surrounded with thick forest and there are Maha Samadhis and very old stepwell. It covers two villages namely Jabli and Loharli. The Trek requires 60 to 80 minutes approximately. The Main Gufa is Located in the south of the Hilltop which is strictly banned for physical visit for women devotees. However, the women in a different Queue are allowed to have Darshans from a platform located some 5 Metre ahead of the Samadhi Place. Many pilgrims prefer to walk uphill from nearly Shrine of Shahtalai chanting and performing strict religious exercises. Local Police is deployed in numbers when there is a seasonal rush of Pilgrims majority of which arrive from Punjab and neighbouring states. Apart from the Main Shrine, there are Permanent and seasonal Novelty Shops Located in Deotsidh operated mostly by the local residents. During the peak Season of Melas There are number of Food Stalls and cool water points are installed by Pilgrims serving the traffic and by passers. The cleanliness drive and open littering becomes a regular drive during such times.

Does & Don'ts on Track:

DO You need to have proper trekking shoes, Trekking pants, raincoat, Cap/Hat, Torch, Water Bottle, Food, Basic Medicine (PCM, Pain Killers, Antibiotic) etc. Also, Bring reusable items if possible. Please get back all non-biodegradable waste or deposit at waste collection centers or bring them back to your place of stay. As much as possible bring ecofriendly products. Used plastic should neither be littered in mountains /valleys and nor be washed away in rivers. Prevent water from getting polluted. This effort of yours shall be a big contribution in keeping the Himachal Pradesh clean and protected.
DONT Being a religious destination do not litter the palace, stay away from intoxication, do not push too hard and too fast while traveling, don't carry any valuables with you on the trek, restrict yourself from destroying beautiful surrounding by littering the mountains. Don’t leave any eatable along the road side for wild animals and also don’t allow your caterer to do so. Don’t engage with wild animals. If possible don’t get packaged food. Don’t create noise. Don’t wash your clothes in water springs or stream and never discharge saponified water in water sources. Don’t litter plastic/disposable crockery like plates, donas, spoons and glasses. Don’t defecate or urinate near river banks and spring beds. Don’t leave your undergarments behind after bath as the colors and nylon, synthetic fiber in cloth is a pollutant. Do not click pictures/selfies on the river banks and other dangerous places. it can prove fatal. Polythene is completely banned in Himachal Pradesh. Please do not use it.
